Regulation 5.10.3.1.6: The outdoor play area shall be free of dumpsters, uncovered trash cans, highly flammable materials, standing pools of water and other hazards. Staff shall inspect the outdoor play area before children begin to play to make sure there are no hazards present such as, but not limited to, animal feces, litter, adult tools, or other items that might injure a child.
“While on a walking field trip to the wooded area, a child found a lighter in an unlocked cabinet and lit a pinecone on fire which spread to the grassy area. The staff attempted to extinguish the fire and called the fire department. Corrective Action: Children shall be physically and visually supervised by staff at all times when on field trips or walking field trips. The program shall complete a hazard assessment of the area and identify what measures will be taken before children are permitted in the area. Submit a copy to your licensor by 5/20/2026.”
