Inspections
Read the state record
In 28 states, listings show the state's own inspection history: the visits and cited rules the state publishes, in its own words where it gives them.
- 1
What an inspection is
A state licensing visit to check the daycare against the state's rules. Some are routine, some follow a complaint.
- 2
What a cited rule means
A finding on the day of the visit, not a judgement of the daycare today. We show it in the state's words with its severity.
- 3
How to read the correction line
Where the state publishes it, the date the daycare fixed the finding, or that it was corrected during the visit.

How we work
Kept honest
Where listings come from
Most listings start from the state's own child care license records. Where no state license record is available, listings come from public business listings and say so.
What we copy from websites
Programs, approach, features and posted tuition from a daycare's own website, matched to its own wording.
What we never do
We never rank or score daycares, and we never invent openings, prices, reviews or badges.
How to report a mistake
Use "Report a problem" on any listing or the contact page. We check it against the state record and fix it.
For providers
Run a daycare?
Claim your listing to add tuition, openings and photos and reply to parent reviews.
Questions
Questions parents ask
Is DaycarePal a daycare?
No. We are an independent directory of daycares. To ask about a spot, enroll a child or ask about care, call the daycare directly.
How do I find a licensed daycare near me?
Type your town or ZIP above, or tap "Use my location". Most listings come from a state license record and show the license and, where the state publishes it, the inspection history. A listing with no license record matched says so and links the state's own license search.
Where do the inspection records come from?
From each state's child care licensing agency. We copy inspection visits from 28 states, and in 19 of them each cited rule in the state's own words.
Do you rank daycares?
No. Lists show providers on paid plans first, then A to Z by name. We do not score or rank daycares.
Why is there no address for some daycares?
Home daycares are private homes, so we show only the town and ZIP. The provider shares the address with families.
A listing is wrong. What do I do?
Use "Report a problem" on the listing, or write to us from the contact page. Owners can also claim their listing to update hours, tuition and openings.
