Review guidelines

Every review on DaycarePal is confirmed by email and read by a person before it appears. Here is what we publish and what we do not.

We publish

What a good review includes

Your own experience.

Your child attended this daycare, or you toured it or dealt with it yourself.

Specific and factual.

What happened and when: communication, staff, daily routine, facilities, tuition and billing, how a problem was handled.

Respectful language.

Criticism is welcome; abuse is not.

We do not publish

What we remove

  • Reviews of a daycare you never used or visited, second-hand stories or rumours.
  • Personal attacks, profanity, discriminatory remarks or threats.
  • Accusations of crimes or abuse stated as fact. A concern about a child's safety belongs with the state licensing agency, child protective services or the police, not in a review.
  • Personal information about staff, children or other families, such as names, photos or phone numbers. Never name a child.
  • Promotional content, attacks on competitors, or reviews written by the daycare itself.

Corrections to a listing (closed, moved, wrong hours or phone number) are welcome too. Send them through our contact form and we fix the listing.

How it works

Verification

  1. 1

    Write it

You write a review and give your email address. It is never shown.

  2. 2

    Confirm it

You click the confirmation link we email you.

  3. 3

    A person checks it

A person checks the review against these guidelines.

  4. 4

    It goes live

Published reviews appear on the listing page, and we email you when yours is live. If we cannot publish it, we email you that too, and you may write it again.

Email confirmation shows that a real person wrote the review. It does not prove that the writer was a parent at the daycare.

Providers

Replies

Providers on the Pro or Enrollment plan may post one public reply under each review; replies follow the same standards. A paid plan never removes or changes a review.

Something wrong?

Report a review

If a review breaks these guidelines, or it is about you and you think it is false, tell us through our contact form with a link to the listing. We check it against these guidelines and remove it if it breaks them. We do not remove a review only because it is critical.

Your words

Your review

You keep ownership of what you write, and you give us permission to publish it, as our Terms of Service explain. To change or delete your review, write to us from the email address you used. Your email address is never shown; our Privacy Policy explains how we use it.

We are a directory, not the daycare. We cannot hold a spot, enroll a child or answer questions about care.
