Regulation 6.2.7.3: Staff shall use positive methods of guidance and behavior management that encourage self-control, self-direction, self-esteem, and cooperation.

“Based on interviews with on-site staff, it was noted that Staff A has raised their voice and used an angry tone when interacting with children. Additionally, Staff A has been observed using physical interventions, such as quickly picking up a child or grabbing a child by the arm, even when the child was not in physical danger, instead of opting for non-physical interventions. Corrective Action: Staff A will enroll in a training related to the utilization of positive behavior guidance, managing challenging behaviors or any other topic related to behavior management. Additionally, the program will provide Staff A with three(3) months of mentoring support. The Director will provide a minimum of two (2) hours of weekly observations of Staff A's classroom interactions. The observation times will occur during different parts of the daily schedule to include toileting, activity transitions and indoor free play. Mentoring will begin by 08/12/2024. By this date please send me at least the first month's observation schedule and each month after once determined. If an observation time is cancelled please ensure it is rescheduled,you may move a rescheduled observation to the following week. Observation times are scheduled and dedicated to classroom observations. The observation times may not be used to provide staff breaks and the Director shall not be counted in ratio. During the next three months Staff A will be provided with observation feedback and goals will be created if areas of improvement are identified. Please provide the date and title of the training Staff A will attend.”
