Regulation 7.1.2.2: Staff who are counted in the staff/child ratios and auxiliary staff left alone with children and/or counted in staff/child ratio as specified in the rule 6.2.1.8 of these regulations shall obtain training in pediatric first aid and in infant and child CPR within three (3) months of beginning work in the CBCCPP and remain currently certified.

“A review of staff s BFIS credential accounts and confirmation by the program director, reflects that Staff A hasnot renewed her certifications of an approved infant and child CPR and pediatric first aid, as required by the rule. Staff A holds a position which lends herself to being counted in the staff/ratio and being left alone with children. Staff A has been employed by the program since 07/2021 and both certifications expired on 02/28/2022. Corrective Action: Immediately plan to have Staff A complete approved infant and child CPR and pediatric first aid certifications and submit the documentation of completion with cover sheets to Northern Lights at CCV.and ensure that they are not counted in ratio or left alone with children until completed. Going forth, develop a system which prompts you and/or staff to complete infant and child CPR and pediatric first aid certifications within 3 months of hire and to renew those certifications prior to their date of expiry in an ongoing manner.”
