A text message showed the parent asking to administer the medication, but did not document the required information within this rule. Corrective Action: Create a plan to ensure that any medication on site at the program also has written parental permission and all required information prior to administering it to any child. Send the plan to sarah.crosier@vermont.gov for approval. Status: Appeal Period.”
Regulation 5.10.1.10.6: Plants accessible to children (indoors and outdoors) shall be non-toxic.
“A plant identified as poison parsnip, or wild parsnip, was observed growing alongside the building inside the play yard. It had grown tall enough that the flowers were extending over the railing and onto the stairs that the program uses to access the play area from the building. When staff were asked if they knew anything about the yellow flowers growing in the play yard, one staff responded that they believed those were the ones that Danielle had told them to keep the kids away from. No barriers prohibited the children from accessing the plants. Corrective Action: Immediately remove the plants from the play yard. Ensure that no additional plants grow in spaces accessible to children. Status: Appeal Period.”
