Regulation 6.2.7.3: Staff shall use positive methods of guidance and behavior management that encourage self-control, self-direction, self-esteem, and cooperation.
“As this licensor entered the front lobby of the program, I could hear a child crying and Staff A's raised voice. The staff member's tone sounded frustrated. Statements made to the child included, I did not hurt you, stop crying, you hit your friends all the time, you need to look at me. The tone, voice level and statements did not reflect positive methods of guidance and behavior management. The Licensee confirmed that after the visit she discussed the incident with Staff A. Corrective Action: Staff A shall complete Better Kid Care training "Big Emotions Self Regulation for Adults and Children. Once complete please send a copy of the training certificate to this licensor. Status: Appeal Period.”
