    • Safety and hazards

      13A.15.10.02

“Accessible cleaning supplies was cited and corrected under 05.04. When Licensing Specialist arrived, the door to the washing machine was open. This is a potential hazard to children, as smaller children could climb into it and close the door and become stuck inside. Provider closed the washing machine door while LS was present. Licensing Specialist also observed a mini trampoline in the approved child care area. Trampolines are not allowed to be used by child care children and should be inaccessible to children in care at all times. The provider relocated the trampoline to closet that was then latched closed and is inaccessible to the children.”
    • Safety and hazards

      13A.15.05.04B(3)

“Licensing Specialist observed child proof latches on the cabinets under the bathroom sink, but they were unlatched. The cabinet contained multiple cleaning products, which are potentially hazardous to children. Licensing Specialist relatched the cabinets, so this is corrected. Provider is reminded that all potentially hazardous items must be inaccessible to children in care at all times.”
    • Safety and hazards

      13A.15.05.04B(2)

“When Licensing Specialist arrived, the gate blocking the stairs to the upper level of the home was unlatched, which allowed access to the stairs. During the inspection today, there were 5 children younger than 5 years old present in care. Licensing Specialist closed and latched the gate, so this was corrected. Provider is reminded when children under 5 are in care, the gate and any other protective barrier must be in place during child care hours.”

Please have the parent obtain a current medication administration form for this medication and add it to the child's file. Please send a copy to LS.”
    • Supervision and ratios

      13A.15.08.01B(4)

“Provider stated she has been preparing lunch upstairs in the kitchen and leaving the children who are over 2 in the basement child care area while doing so. Provider has a camera in the basement and a monitor and stated she was able to maintain supervision in that way. Regulations require all awake children who are under age 6 be on the same level as the provider, so that the provider is near enough to render immediate assistance. LS discussed this with the provider and provider expressed understanding. During the inspection, the provider took the children upstairs with her several times, including when it was time to make lunch. This was corrected on site.”
