      22VAC40-185-500-B Complaint related: Yes

“Based on observation and interview, the center failed to ensure that proper cleaning procedures were followed after diapering a child. Evidence: 1. After changing a child Staff #2 first sprayed bleach water onto the surface. Staff #2 then turned and washed her hands and returned to the changing table. She took a disposable towel and wiped the surface. Staff #2 then started to spray the table with a soap water solution. 2. Staff #2 stated she was trained to spray the changing table with bleach water, and then wash her hands and the child's hands. After handwashing is complete, return to the diaper changing area and wipe the surface and spray with soap and water and wipe the surface dry. 3. Th proper procedure is to clean the surface with soap and water and wipe dry, and then to follow with a sanitizing agent and let it air dry. When using bleach water two minutes air dry time is recommended before wiping the surface dry.”
