Regulation 6.2.6: Supervision of Children Staff shall ensure visual supervision of children, except as allowed in rules 6.2.6.1-6.2.6.4 of these regulations.

“Four infants, with three of the children reportedly awake at the time, were left unattended behind the closed infant room door by the Program Director. Information gathered indicates the children were alone for 2-3 minutes before a parent arrived and entered the room. The Program Director reportedly returned to the infant room approximately 2-3 minutes after the parent's arrival. This is a serious violation of supervision warranting a parental notification letter. Corrective Action: As required during this visit, supervision is to be maintained at all times. Submit a plan to Licensing Field Specialist Crawford outlining staff responsiblities and communication requirements for when a group needs assistance with supervision or staff coverage. Upon approval of this plan, all staff need to sign a statement of understanding and agreement to follow this plan. A copy of this site visit letter is to be sent either by U.S. mail or electronic mail to the parents of all children enrolled in the previous 30 days. Along with the supervision plan, the contact information for each parent receiving a copy of this site visit letter is to be mailed to Licensing Field Specialist Crawford. All items are to be completed by the noted corrective action due date.”
