Regulation 5.6.5: All prescription medication administered by staff shall be in its original container, properly labeled for the child, and administered prior to the expiration date on the container.
“A child's prescribed inhaler is stored in a plastic bag with the child's name handwritten on the plastic bag. The medication has an expiration date listed as March 2026. Corrective Action: Continue the established practice sent to Licensing Field Specialist Crawford via email on 04/27/2026. The practice includes: ensuring that all medications are labeled as required at time of arrival to the program and having program staff review emergency medications to detemine if updates are needed to ensure that all medications on site are not expeired. The confirmation of the updated procedures/practices sent via email to Licensing Field Specialist Crawford 04/27/2026 meets the corrective action requirements. Following the site visit on 04/16/2026, confirmation that the identified medication had been updated and the appropriate label in place was submitted. Status: Appeal Period.”
