Reading the numbers

Where these figures come from

These prices come from the U.S. Department of Labor's 2022 county survey of what providers charge, covering all 29 Utah counties. The Utah figure is the middle county. Prices have gone up since 2022, so expect a daycare's rate today to be higher.

We read 345 Utah daycare websites, but too few post a full-time weekly rate to give a 2026 figure. Ask each daycare for its current rate for your child's age.

Paying for care

Ways to lower the cost

Utah's Department of Workforce Services runs the state's child care assistance program, which helps working families pay for all or part of the cost of care. On DaycarePal, 52 Utah daycares are listed as accepting child care assistance: see the Utah daycares that accept it.

Head Start and Early Head Start are free for families who qualify, mostly by income, and serve children from birth to age 5. Find a Head Start program.

Home daycares make up nearly half of the Utah daycares listed on DaycarePal and usually cost less than centers. Part-time schedules can lower the bill too; ask about registration fees, sibling discounts and whether you pay for weeks your child is away.
