“I witnessed a child being left outside unattended without staff supervision for approximately six to eight minutes. The child was not wearing shoes or socks, and the temperature was around 90F. During this time, it appeared that the staff and the director did not realize the child was missing. I have also observed children running outside before a teacher was outside supervising them, leaving the children outside without adult supervision, even if only briefly. I am concerned that this indicates an ongoing issue with maintaining proper supervision during transitions to the playground or outdoor areas. D.J. Realized the child was missing during the second face-to-name headcount upon returning to the classroom, and immediately used the walkie-talkie to request the child be brought back. Reiterated the child was never unsupervised due to the other class remaining outdoors, and noted she is unaware of any other children ever being left unsupervised.”
