Regulation 15.6: When a child has a medically diagnosed food allergy, a special care plan from the child's health care provider shall be readily available and describe steps to take in the event of exposure.
“Upon review of children's files and prescription medications on site, two children were identified to have a medically diagnosed food allergy and prescribed rescue medication, however the program did not have an action plan or emergency medication to treat the allergy for either child. Upon discussion with staff, the staff were aware of one of the children's allergies but not the other. One of the children identified was observed bringing the program-provided snack to a staff member to read the label on the package and ensure it was free of their allergen prior to them eating. Corrective Action: Review children's files to identify medically diagnosed allergies and obtain special care plans from the child's provider. If the special care plan indicates the use of medication, the program will ensure medication is maintained on site to treat allergic reactions as the plan instructs. Send copies of the special care plans and photos of the related medications to Licensing Field Specialist Stark. Create a system for identifying children with medically diagnosed food allergies and obtaining special care plans as well as any related medications upon enrollment. Send a detailed description of the new system to Licensing Field Specialist Stark. Status: Appeal Period.”

This resulted in them being 3.75 hours short of the required twelve (12) hours of professional development hours required annually. Corrective Action: Create and implement a plan to complete the overdue training hours in addition to the twelve (12) hours required for the current year. Send a detailed description of this plan to Licensing Field Specialist Stark.
